SATB2 – key marker for colorectal origin

We present you SATB2 (clone EP281) a highly specific and sensitive marker for colorectal carcinomas. Among epithelial cells, SATB2 is exclusively expressed in the glandular epithelium of the lower GI tract and has been reported to have the highest specificity (93%) and sensitivity (100%) for colorectal carcinomas when utilized in the immunohistochemical panel with CK7 and CK20. Furthermore, SATB2 has been reported to identify medullary carcinomas of the colon that are often CK20 and Cdx-2 negative. This high sensitivity and specificity of SATB2 for colorectal cancers make it a valuable antibody for differentiating carcinomas of unknown primaries.
