New Extended-Spectrum-Beta-Lactamases (ESBL) real-time PCR Kit

medac Diagnostics offers a new Kit for the detection of the blaSHV and blaCTX-M genes determining the ESBL (Extended-Spectrum Beta-Lactamases) genotype by the real-time Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) method.
The SHV ESBL detection is based on the amplification of the blaSHV gene and the discrimination of the individual mutations resulting in the ESBL genotype and fluorophore labelled probes. The CTX-M ESBL detection is based on the amplification of the blaCTX-M gene and measuring the amplification product concentration growth using PCR process and fluorophore labelled probes. The kit makes it possible to identify all five known clusters, i.e. CTX-M-1, CTX-M-2, CTX-M-8, CTX-M-9 and CTX-M-25. An Internal Standard (IS) is either included in the reaction mix, controlling the possible inhibition of the PCR (ISIN version) or excluded, controlling also the DNA extraction process quality (ISEX version). IS positive amplification is detected in the HEX fluorophore fluorescence channel. The detection kit utilizes the "hot start" technology, minimizing non-specific reactions and assuring maximum sensitivity. Ready to Use MasterMix contains uracil-DNA-glycosylase (UDG), eliminating possible contamination of the PCR reaction by amplification products. The kit is designed for in vitro diagnostics and provides qualitative detection.
